Becoming a food truck manager at HAV

The Food Truck Manager in Training role is designed for individuals eager to grow into a leadership position. You’ll work closely with ownership and management to learn every aspect of daily food truck operations  ̶ from scheduling and inventory management to customer service and team leadership. During this full-time paid training period, you’ll gain the hands-on experience and mentorship needed to transition into a full Food Truck Manager role at Houstatlantavegan.

Responsibilities

‍

Learning and developing skills

  • Learn and assist with day-to-day operations including opening, closing, and handling cash, deposits, and reports.
  • Support in managing inventory levels, ordering, tracking usage, and maintaining vendor relationships.
  • Participate in box truck inspections and basic vehicle readiness checks.
  • Shadow management on verifying deliveries, managing invoices, and monitoring food cost and quality.
  • Learn payroll systems and administrative management processes.
  • Develop problem-solving skills for resolving equipment, software, or hardware issues under supervision.
  • Observe and practice quality control procedures to ensure consistency in food quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Participate in scheduling and training staff, learning to lead teams effectively.
  • Help track daily and weekly sales goals and brainstorm ways to improve efficiency and revenue.
  • Learn to manage customer feedback, address complaints, and enhance service flow.
  • Support brand growth by promoting specials, social media initiatives, and event participation.

Expectations

As a full-time team member, you’ll work a 40-hour schedule that includes weekends and special events. The schedule is flexible and may occasionally require picking up shifts to gain experience across different areas of operation. During events or busy days, you can expect longer shifts ranging from 10 to 14 hours. Training will cover all aspects of both food truck operations and prep base work, giving you a complete understanding of how the business runs. Throughout this process, you’ll receive hands-on mentorship directly from ownership, with a clear pathway to promotion into a full Food Truck Manager role upon successful completion of the program.

Qualifications

‍

Mandatory Requirements

  • Your Own Vehicle
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Management Experience
  • Willingness to take feedback and grow into a management role.
  • Food Managers Certification (Food Manager’s Certification can be obtained during training.)

Physical Traits

  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to Withstand High Temps in food truck.
  • Able to Step up and down on and off a ladder.
